Commell LV-671NSMPというマザーボードでXが640x480で固定されてしまう件、解決!!

ずっとドライバのせいだと思ってぐぐっていたわけですが、なんと原因はBIOSの設定ですた.............................................................orz。

まったく同じことで悩んでいた人がいて、このページの下のほうで

It turned out to be a BIOS setting issue, not really an X issue. In the X log file this message appeared:
 >"Size of device LFP (local flat panel) is 640 x 480"
In the BIOS, "Advanced Chipset Features", there are 2 relevant lines:
Boot Display [choices AUTO, CRT, LCD, CRT+LCD, DVI, TV, CRT+DVI]
LCD Type [choices 1 - 11] (no description of types in the BIOS or in the manual.)
I had an LCD monitor hooked up to the VGA connector, but it occured to me (finally) 
that in the context of the 'Boot Display' setting, LCD meant use of the internal LVDS connector. 
I changed 'Boot Display' from AUTO to CRT and the problem is fixed.

といった書き込みがありました。 ようするに、BIOSでBoot Displayを'AUTO'にしておくと、パネルサイズが640x480に固定して認識されてしまうので'CRT'を選べ、ということらしいです。 実際、BIOSを変更したら、ウソのように1280x1024で起動しますた。 うーむぅ、この書き込みをした人も三日も悩んだみたいだが、去年の6月にすでに解決された問題だったわけですな....................................orz。 実は検索したらこのページはすぐに引っかかってきてて、何度も見ていたのですが全然意味がわかってませんでした。あぁ、自分の英語力のなさがうらめしい。
